Urgent Action for Piedmont Neighborhood Association Members and Friends!
To close the looming budget gap for Portland, many cuts to existing programs have just been proposed—including the possible closure of one of the following Community Centers: Peninsula Park, Montavilla or St Johns!
We here in the Piedmont Neighborhood are shocked by this possibility, to say the least! Many PNA neighbors and others use the PPCC facilities for many activities for countless years, and we hold our monthly General Meetings at PPCC. We’re told the final budget decisions are not expected for a couple of months, so in the meantime, we must come together to protest publicly to Keep PPCC Open!
Our next PNA General Meeting is this coming Thursday, March 20 at our usual location/time (and via Zoom) in the Fireside Room at PPCC, 700 N Rosa Parks Way from 7p-9p.
Here are the meeting’s Agenda with Zoom Link.
At the top of our meeting’s agenda will be the PPCC’s threat to close. We’ll provide updates on the latest budget news and will then launch into receiving vital input from you, our Piedmont neighbors and friends, as we plan our protest strategy and create the talking points for reasons to keep PPCC open. Please come prepared to share how PPCC has positively affected you, your family’s lives, neighbors’ lives, etc. and the impacts of a possible closing. In advance of the meeting, feel free to send your comments using our PNA Contact Form (https://piedmontneighborhood.com/contact/) on our website.
The City is planning four Listening Sessions for each of the City’s four new Districts when the Public can provide budget-concerning testimony: in-person, online or by email. We plan to organize significant participation at our District #2 session on Thursday, April 3rd (details below).
