Two Earth Day Activities this Weekend in Piedmont!

Two Earth Day Activities this Weekend in Piedmont!

Hey Piedmont Neighborhood Association Members and supporters!  Come celebrate Earth Day this weekend by attending two events in Piedmont: Bryant Street Bridge Annual Spring Cleanup and Plant Sale.

Bryant Street Bridge Annual Spring Cleanup
Saturday, April 20, 10a-2p

PNA has a long-standing arrangement (including a grant a number of years ago) with ODOT to help maintain the appearance and safety of the Bryant St Pedestrian/Bike Bridge.  We usually hold an annual cleanup to prune, weed whack, remove litter, sweep, etc. and if time allows, help to cleanup on the Arbor Lodge side.  This year, we’ll also help reduce the risk of illegal camping on or near the path by moving large boulders into place and then planting Barberry and Oregon Grape bushes between the boulders.

It’s actually a lot of fun, and all you need to bring are some gloves and wear a sturdy pair of shoes.  And, if you’re able to bring along a wheelbarrow, clippers or a weed whacker, that would be great, too!

Neighborhood Plant Sale
Sunday, April 21, 11a-3p
334 N Baldwin St

Plant enthusiasts, Anna Kullgren and Don Robinson, have been holding an annual Plant Sale in Piedmont for a number of years and invite other plant-related sellers in the Portland area to sell, as well.  This year, there will be nine vendors who plan to sell: indoor plants (including succulents), outdoor plants (including PNW natives, vegetable starts, succulents, xeric, drought tolerant, heat tolerant, shade loving and more!),  There will also be pottery, ceramics and gardening books for sale, too!
