Severe Weather Shelters – URGENT help needed to keep shelters open!

The PNA would like to pass along an urgent message from the Multnomah County:

Dear North Portland Neighbors,

At this moment, we are facing a critical shortage of people to staff our warming shelters, including two shelters in North Portland. Our shelters can’t stay open without sufficient staffing, and the possibility is growing by the hour that some of our sites may have to close before the weather emergency is over.  If you live in the area & can safely volunteer, please consider helping with this life saving effort. Shelter Operations: Click on a shelter site link to sign up for shifts at that location. We need most people to take the General Staff role. (Take 5 minutes to watch a video about what it’s like to serve as General Staff.)

Logistics Support (CRITICAL): Wednesday shifts to help us demobilize our shelter sites are our biggest need.(See position description)

Behavioral Health Specialists (CRITICAL/multiple sites):Help create a safe and supportive environment for all guests and staff. (See position description/requirements)

What about training? Prioritize the required Bloodborne Pathogens Training series listed under each position description, which takes about 30 minutes. General Staff and PICs should also prioritize the “Saving Lives with Naloxone” training if at all possible.

If you have any questions, contact eoc.adminsection@multco.us
